Fuming is not the word!! i started work 6 weeks ago, was not entitled to the 4 week run on for housing or council tax benefits, went last week and got my housing benefit backdated by half, have been given a letter with amounts and dates on, i rang the housing department today (my landlords) via the letter that they had sent me with a contact number on, paid this weeks rent (my share thats left once benefit it paid) the lady was very nice, i explained that i had just re started work and would be looking to clear all money owed when i get paid in two weeks time and put it a month in advance, gave her the date and amount that the council said they would pay, she documented all this and took my payment...
Just received a phone call from my housing team to say that i was in xxx amount of arrears and they had received notice from the council to say i wasnt entitled to housing benefit! even though i had the letter with my award in my hand, had been today and shown more proof of childcare payments and got reconfirmed how much and when they were next going to pay. tonights lady was very rude and said they would be looking to serve notice for arrears on me! she also said that there was no record of my conversation on the notes, informed me that i had rang the wrong number, and there was also no record of my payment. i read her the letter that they had sent me and she said they would try and trace the phonecall. How unfair!, how pissed off am i! im only on a 12 month probationary tennancy and im supposed to sign for the house end of july, looks like its all just one big f**k up and i may end up losing the house if i cant get all this mess sorted Sad

I'm sure it will all get sorted out, it is probably just one hand not knowing what the other is doing. I suspect letters have crossed in the post.

I know it is really stressful, but hopefully by next week everything will be sorted out. Why not call again on Monday?

thanks for replying Mikkii, it was a case of one hand not knowing what the other was doing, however by the time it was sorted out it has left me hundreds in housing debt, so ive had to make a promise to bring it upto date on payday. so for the next 5 weeks its going to be very tight. theres no point making a smaller contribution, as it will just spiral out of managable control. such a shame as im usually very careful with my cash, being frugal where i can so we can get nicer things in other areas of our lives. never mind eh, its only 5 weeks... if something else doesnt crop up lol.
