My parents have separated after 22 yr marriage & 31 yr partnership (all kids predate the marriage!). They own two properties outright. My dad has always been the high earner & is currently on about £100k (I am guessing). My mum did classic SAHM/low paid part time work & is on about £15k. Savings of around £200k. Dad has a final salary pension, mum has a small pension.
All in joint names, no dependent children.
It is amicable & mum insists that there is no need for us to worry about money & dad will share it out. I would like reassurance that he is obliged to do so.
