Returned order not received they wont refund help please

I ordered a product off the Internet but I cancelled it before dispatch. It was later dispatched and when it was delivered I signed for it and asked the delivery man if he was able to take it back and return it to the company he said yes no problem and took the box back with him but I got no paperwork. The company now tell me they have not received the return and will not issue a refund. What can I do next please?

Why did you let the delivery driver take it back without any proof??? At the moment, all the paperwork will be proving that you received it (as you signed for the delivery) and nothing to say you returned it.

You could try contacting the delivery firm, however there's no guarantees that you will see the money again, sorry.

You signed for it and then you sent it back with the courier?

I'd say you have zero chance of seeing your money again.

You shouldn't have signed for it. You have no proof it was sent back. There is absolutely no reason as to why the company should refund you.

Your best bet would be to contact the courier firm but I really wouldn't bank on getting anywhere.

In future either refuse to sign for the item or sign for it, accept it and return it yourself so you have proof of return.

The trouble is that if they took people's word for it then every day they would pretend they had given it back to the delivery driver and kept the item. You could try signing a statement setting out exactlyw hat happend. If someone was in your house at the time who could also give a statement that might help as you are trying to prove they had it back. You could ask them the name of the delivery driver perhaps through a data protection request so they can ask the driver what happened.

If there is not much money at stake it might just be better to write it off.
