Hi, can anyone suggest any websites that have actual personal recommendations for solicitors. Have looked at so many sites, inc resolution and I just don't know where to start. thanks

thanks, I've only met with one solicitor so far. She seemed really good but I'm just not sure. Is difficult to find the time to see people as I only have 1 day a week without the kids and within school hours. Also, other than feeling comfortable with the person, I don't really know what I'm looking for. I know it sounds limp and pathetic, but having been with DH for the whole of my adult life, I'm just not used to doing this on my own. Kind of a problem now! I know DH will be as difficult, spiteful and obstructive as possible - does that mean I should go for a partner to sort it out?

Hi, I've sent you a private message with recommendation.

mbb · 12/03/2013 09:30

morning, thanks for the private messages and sorry I hadn't responded. I didn't know about them until they were pointed out to me. Off to work now but will read them properly tonight. thanks again for all the advice.

Some divorce lawyers are part of a scheme where they resign if the case will go to court and which encourages collaboration. I think it might be called Resolution.

You want someone who is realistic about who will pay what etc and gives you their honest view early on, who tells you what it will cost if you have lots of expensive hearings (might cost more than the amount in dispute if you're not careful) and encourages both sides to compromise to get it done quickly.
