Am I required by law to handover my GP details to the other sides solicitors?
This is for a DNA they have requested that I have agreed to undertake.
Is there no other way it can be done so they don't have this information?
Thanks in advance my sol. is `not in till Monday' and I am worried about it.

You could try phoning their solicitors and ask them to inform you of the law governing this request. They wouldn't be able to lie to you.

They wouldn't be able to lie but they certainly wouldn't have to tell you, and most likely wouldn't.

I don't understand why your GP records are required for a DNA test? Surely they just take a strand of your hair or scraping of inside of cheek or whatever?

I cant see why your GP's details would be relevant to a DNA test.

I may be wrong but when a friend of mine was going through an acrimonious divorce her solicitor started billing her for time he spent explaining things to her husband. He said he was obliged to do it as he was representing himself so couldn't ask anyone else.

That seemed pretty unfair at the time but if it's correct it may act in your favour now, OP.

The sample for a DNA test is taken by a doctor who will also verify that the photos you take to the appointment are a true likeness. My guess is they are assuming you will want your GP to take your sample and therefore need his/her address so the lab knows where to send the sampling kit.

Thanks Prh I have read on line about me having to take photographs in. No one (official) has mentioned this to me either. I am more than happy for my solicitor to give the lab my GP's address but I do not want my ex to have this information. Am I ok to say this? Thanks again Gold.
