How do solicitors send statements to cours?

I just wondered how solicitors file statements etc to court on time, do they use royal mail like someone representing themselves or do they have a special way to file them?

Today at 4 is the deadline for statements to be filed, we called court just to make sure my partners one was all received etc and so far their statement hasn't been received. I'm not surprised as the last statement was 8 weeks late but just wondered if realistically they're statement won't be filed on time again.

There is a special postal service called 'DX' which solicitors & courts use and other professional services. It's usually more reliable than royal mail but not always. You can also fax statements to court. Some courts will also accept documents by email. Depends whether they need an original document or not.

Most will use the DX unless they are very close in which case they may sent a trainee to go and file in person. Not unusual to be a few days late unfortunately (although I never was)

As said sometimes they will have it taken in by hand.
Also look on court websites as they say how statements can be sent - sometimes it will allow tax and I think normally not by email. It is a good idea to send things two ways if you can to be on the safe side and well within time deadlines and early. Many will also send to the other person's lawyer at the same time perhaps by email.
