Can anyone advise me who to go to if your letting agent isnt responding to any communication. We are having problems with our tennant who is in arrrears, we instructed the letting agent to issue eviction papers but nothing appears to have been done. We call, send emails and send letters.

They dont appear to be a member of any association.

Any advice would be useful...

Ps we are not located near them.

Have you sent letters by recorded delivery/registered post? Is it a company? If so, make sure you sent letters recorded and to the agent's head office. If still no joy, give the agency notice to terminate their contract with you and get in touch with the tenant directly from then on. It may be the only way you can take control. Check your contract with the agency - there should be a provision in there about termination.

Are you sure the tenant is in arrears and the agent hasn't been pocketing the rent?
