Query on house inheritance in Scotland

Hi there, hoping someone might be able to help with a rather tangled query about a house inheritance.

My friend's grandfather died a couple of years ago, leaving his house to my friend's DM (his only child). Friend's DM died last month, having never actually got round to getting the title deeds changed over. My friend's grandmother is still actually living in the house (her name was never in the title deeds; she seems OK with the arrangement, which I presume was done to limit assets or inheritance tax or something). My friend's family want her grandmother to remain in the house, but who actually owns the house now - does it revert to her grandma or can it be transferred to the beneficiaries of her DM's will (i.e. her dad)? (she's in scotland, in case that makes a difference)

For a number of very involved reasons my friend doesn't have a lot of confidence in her dad's solicitor, but feels they are kind of stuck with him. Any advice gratefully received, thanks
