Hello,

Last month I needed a payday loan, after a friend recommend it to me and I needed to pay a bill I didn't expect. I then googled and signed up on a website which I thought was a payday loan lender. I gave them my details including my NINo. They then wrote yes you have been accepted and before we can send you the money please confirm your pin etc. The pin was sent to my mobile phone. So I did but I never received any money. Last week they took £60 from my account as a membership fee I NEVER agreed to and today they even had the cheek to sent me a membership card. Doing a bit of research on the company it didn't just happen to me but to many other people.

Do I have a chance when I contact the CAB or a lawyer?

Sorry for spelling mistakes but I am in anger and writing from my iPad.

I've heard of a few payday loans brokers who do this, they do IME put the fees on the website although they don't make them very clear unless you're looking for them. I think your only chance of getting them back would be arguing that the fees weren't made clear, unfortunately I am not aware of anyone who has successfully done this (used to work in a bank and frequently had customers come in to query what the fees were).

You need to contact them to find out if they plan to take any more money - was it taken by direct debit, or from your card?

Was it loans direct UK? Their website says about the fee on the home page, but says it won't be more than £49.99 so if they have taken £60, definitely try and take it further.
