Immigration question

Id be grateful for any advice on my brothers situation please, he's got his girlfriend pregnant and she is outside the EU. They both want her to move here and have the baby here if possible. She has a good professional qualification but not sure theres enough time for her to get work sorted before she is due.

What options do they have?

Who is best for him to speak to, CAB?

Thanks

CAB methinks. They'll be able to point him in the right direction

Hi, I'm an Immigration solicitor (tho currently on mat leave)... In my experience, the CAB are often helpful in many areas but don't usually know the ins and outs of the laws on immigration tho they may well be able to point him in the direction of a local solicitor. Without knowing a lot more about your brother's girlfriend's situation, there's not really any advice I can offer. There are various routes to apply for her to travel... Family routes depend on them being engaged/married/lived together for some considerable time already, as well as being able to support themselves financially. Work routes may be better, but again these are complex. Your brother is best off calling a local solicitor for advice. He should be able to get a reasonable/free initial appointment for some brief advice. Warning though that, like all things, there are some shoddy immigration lawyers about. Also, depending on their financial situation it may well not be straightforward to get her here.

OK thanks Trazzletoes, wise advice, I'll tell him! Fortunately he is in a good permanent job so I'm sure that'll help.
