Witness statement

Hi all

My partner is representing himself at court and were unsure as to how to proceed.

At his first hearing the judge ordered that him and his ex partner were to both do a witness statement and file them at court by the same date, today.

We sent my partners to the court recorded and it arrived Thursday and sent a copy to his ex's solicitor it arrived today.

Could anyone tell me what is the standard procedure with sending witness statements to the other party? As her solicitor knows he is representing himself will they not send a copy of the statement to him or should it still be sent to him regardless?? if they do not send it, are we within our rights to request a copy of it?? And is there any time limits etc or ways it should be requested? Were trying to do everything correctly

Many thanks for any advice, will be really appreciated

Thanks

They will send her statement to him.

Yes, he should have received it today. If it doesn't come tomorrow he should call his opponent's solicitors to chivvy them along. The point of simultaneous filing and exchange of statements is to prevent one party having the opportunity to tailor their statement to the opponent's.
