My dsis has come up with an idea for a website. Without giving anything away, she's asked me to post a question which hopefully some legal boffin may be able to answer. Here goes:

"Is it legal to show pricing from an unconsenting third party on a price comparison website".

hmmm, interesting. Can't say for definite but can't help but think about those supermarket adverts you see where they compare prices for the same product in different supermarkets. Similar type of thing? That is clearly legal otherwise they wouldn't get away with doing it all the time.

Well tesco and asda and various other retailers quote prices of their competitors as in 'our beans are cheaper than so and sos beans'. I'm sure they dont ask the oppositions permission to do so!

Maybe because the competitor advertises the information it is in the public domain and can be quoted. Obviously cant say competitors beans are full of poison, but..........?

tbh I've not got a clue but logic seems to say its OK but the law is tricky!
