Waiting for refund from DFS since Feb

i was told my application for credit had failed so they needed a deposit of £120 - I paid, thinking that I would get an agreement for less money...however the guy on the phone then said 'we'll get the rest on delivery'

I said no, I can't afford the lump sum, so they then put me on their back up credit, which went through fine, and I was told I would get the money refunded.

This was back in Feb...I've been calling the store regularly, chasing my money but getting nowhere. Every time I call the manager is on the other line so tomorrow I'm going into the shop to have a word.

Does anyone know where I stand on this? Do they have to refund within a certain time limit, is there someone to report them to? Just don't want to be fobbed off yet again, very fed up!

Did you pay the £120 with cash or credit card? We had different situation (bought a bed which was not delivered, then the delivery company mislaid..... V long and drawn out saga) and although we demanded money back (having paid in full and waited over 16 weeks) they only really got their arses into gear when we asked Barclaycard to get their legal department onto it. Sorry - that doesn't really answer your question, except really - if you did pay with credit card then ask the credit card company to get onto it asap as they have a lot more clout than an ordinary citizen.

I used my debit card...don't think that has the same process as a credit card does it? Am just so frustrated at getting the run around so want to be able to threaten them with some consequences!
