Writing will's

Dh and I agree we need to write wills and have finally agreed the my DS will have guardianship of DD if we were both to die. That's agreed, however i'm not sure what else we need to have put in a will?

I feel like i can't approach anyone to write a will as I don't know what else we need to cover? Do you need to specify who gets personal property etc? We have a (mortaged) house together and not a lot of cash!

Cheers

A will writer such as mumblechum1 will help you sort out what you need to cover.

Mumblechum1 is fantastic - she did our wills last year. She did an initial appt over the phone at our convenience and when through a series of questions covering all sorts of things. We weren't sure what else we needed to have in the will either before speaking to her. Draft wills arrived the following day and the final version within the week.

Cheers for that. I wondered if I was the only one who felt that ignorant about wills!

Hi Liskey,

I normally have an advert on Classifieds but am in the middle of writing it now.

Hopefully it will appear back within an hour or so if you're interested.
So far as personal possessions go, I recommend that you don't gift them in the will because the chances are you won't have them when you die, assuming that you're not elderly now (!). If you feel strongly about possessions you can do a letter of wishes which is kept with the will but which you can destroy and re-do as often as you like, without having to do a new will every time.

OP, I have now lost the dratted advert three times as paypal is throwing a wobbler. Feel free to PM me with any questions while I try one last time before throwing my pc through the window

I'm going to have another go now. Three times I've written a ton of blurb, gone to Paypal to pay for the ad and it says it's having technical problems and so I have to start all over again Angry.

Thanks MOS Smile

Ad now on Classifieds. Smile

OP, you should try to avoid, if possible, appointing the same people to be both executors and guardians, to avoid a potential conflict of interest.
