Hi sorry if this is the wrong board. I am
New here. I have cared for my
Goddaughter for 3 years I have a special guardianship order. She was taken from a very dangerous and abusive situation and has no contact with her parents. She is now 14 and would like to explore the possibility of me adopting her. To this end she has had counselling (all good healthy etc) and I have social services support. I have spoken with a lawyer who seems to think we have a good chance of it being approved. She is doing great happy healthy etc. I just don't want to get her hopes up-this is at her instigation although of course I support 100%-so I guess MA just looking for a second opinion and maybe some
Idea of timescale? Thanks for reading :)

Sorry i cant really help, but it sounds like you have done an amazing job and she must love you so much. Congratulations on raising a healthy, level headed 14 year old.

Children need the security of love, and knowing they are loved. The rest is just detail. Be open with her, explore the possibility of failure and what it would mean on a day to day basis, and reassure her that for you, nothing will change the way you feel about each other, or your living arrangements.

Giving her that security is whats important.
