Employment Law - Holidays

Hoping someone might be able to help.

my husband's contract states he gets 33 days holiday per year. This includes bank/public holidays. He works five out of seven days a week which change on a rota system. His work places closes down on Easter Sunday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day therefore 3 of those days are taken then. He has just found out that he has a rest day on Easter Monday. His employers have informed him that as he is off on a normal rest day the last working day before that (ie Saturday) He will get an enhanced rate of pay in compensation. This will happen with all bank holidays where his rest day falls. So in effect each time this happens he effectively is losing a day's holiday as it will be classed as if he has taken it because he getting paid an enhanced rate the day before. I know he gets more than the minimum so technically he will get at least 28 days but his contract states 33 days so surely he should be getting 33 days away from work?

He works 261 days a year, less the 33 days (incl bank holidays) he gets off. Look at the calendar and work out whether whet you say is happening is acually happening. Sounds confusing.
