Strange Phone call - advice please - Accident Response

Hi

I just received a call from a company called Accident Response advising me that there has been money set aside for me for a road accident I was involved in in April 2010. As far as I was aware this had been dealt with by my car insurer Churchill. The other driver accepted all blame and my car was repaired - end of. Anyway they have stated that they have money set aside for me and my 4 kids who were also in the car. It all seems very strange. This is the second time they have called me. The first time was several weeks ago and they did say I would receive another call from a "specialist"!! I gave out no details they seemed to know everything anyway but I just wanted to know if anyone else had come across anything like this. I dont want to get my hopes up of getting some much needed cash to find out its all some sick dodgy scam!!

Sounds like a dodgy scam to me. Many insurers sell details on to these types of companies. Then complain when premiums go up because of the number of legal claims .

Scam scam scam. They've just been lucky that they hit on the right date for your accident. I've had a few of these recently, with timelines like 'early in 2010'. Which was a Big Fat Lie. I haven't had a car accident for over 5 years

Yes, they will ask you to claim for 'whiplash' and perhaps other injuries.

You will then receive a payout.

It would be morally wrong and the reason they get away with it is because insurance companies generally don't bother to contest the 'injury' for a few thousand.

I'd suggest phoning Churchill and asking them, they will be used to it one was or the other.

Either they will be from a claims management company that offers an upfront payment for clients in cases they take on, or it's a scam and they will ask you to send them some money first.

On second thoughts, it's a scam either way. DW still gets texts arising from an accident she was involved in over 2 years ago. Numerous phone callers who wouldn't accept that she hadn't been injured.

Scam scam scam, I get these calls regularly and none of them will accept that it's impossible because I don't own a car, I can't drive, and the last time I was in a car 'accident' was when I was 6 and my mum hit a fence reversing out of the drive....

It's a scam and is the reason everyone's car insurance is costing more. Whiplash claims are very easy to fake so claims companies encourage people to make inflated claims. Insurance companies are clamping down and are prosecuting fraudulent claims so steer clear unless you're prepared to risk a large fine or prison sentence.
