FOI and LEA schools

I believe another parent took screen prints of a conversation on my dd's Facebook page and brought it into school as "evidence" of bullying. The school has not accused my dd of bullying and have stated that they do not consider her to be a bully. The same parent has accused a number of other children as well. My question is, can I ask for copies of the prints under the FOI or other provisions?

Can't you just look on your daughters facebook page?

I would just ask the school to give you some guidance as to the conversation, and what in particular prompted the complaint. You could always say you are concerned about giving your daughter further advice on her use of FB. Can't you then just look it up on your dd's Facebook page?

If you approach it in a constructive way, I'm sure they will be happy to co-operate.

Not sure why you can't look it up on your daughter's Facebook page for yourself but yes, you can ask the school to see these prints if they have kept them. You want the Data Protection Act rather than FoI but it doesn't really matter - if you make a request under the wrong act the school is required to deal with it as if you had quoted the correct act.

The reason I want to see the actual print is that I believe it may be fabricated. I have access to DDs account, but have never seen anything that could be construed as bullying. As far as the school is concerned my dd is not a bully, but the other parent appears to be making allegations about my dd and other kids, and spreading malicious gossip. We blocked her from our FB a while back. I don't want to go back to the school as they are sick of the whole thing but if they are holding stuff I want to know what it is. There is a possibility that it is just bluff by the parent but the school confirmed that she had given them prints relating to other children before I was aware of these specific allegations against my dd.

Have you asked the school? Tell them you keep a close eye on her account and have never seen anything untoward, so would like a further explanation about the allegations made. But as the school has in any case decided there is nothing in this complaint - surely that is good enough?
