Being treatened with dismissal due to gross misconduct 1 week to end of redundancy notice period

I was given a redundancy notice on 15th Dec and should finish on 15th Jan.
I was late for work this morning and couldnt contact my employer cos i havd power failure at home and could not charge the company mobile.
i was in at 9.05am instead of 8.30am .
My boss called and said " I do not want to go on to gross misconduct because u will loose your redundancy entitlement.
However my boss still want me to work after the 15th Jan as a consultant so i can do a proper training/handover for the new person taking over my job.
My job became redundant because my boss is moving the department somewhere else to cut cost and is not prepared to help me with transportation cost as it will cost me almost 30% of my salary to travel there.
Please advise

I'm no expert but I wouldn't have thought being late would come under the category of gross misconduct, perhaps a written or verbal warning if your boss was feeling the need to be official!

It was just a threat - there's no indication it will be acted upon. If it was, it would be quite unreasonable and you may have a case at ET (assuming you have the qualifying period).

I'd just make sure you aren't late again until your leaving date!

It's up to you whether or not you want to take up the offer of consultancy work after the 15th. If the money they are offering doesn't adequately reward you, you can just say no.

Again, I'd wait until the 15th though.
