can my sons ex partner stop him seeing kids she told him she has changed mind and she will let im no when he can c them.
she agreed yesterday he could have them xmas pm , when he dropped them off today she changed her mind. and he would have to go through courts.

can she withold contact advise needed

Unless there is a court order in place saying she must make the children available contact needs to be agreed between parents. When no agreement can be reached there is nothing to be done other than appeal to her better nature or apply to court to regulate contact.

The court should process the paperwork in around 7 days, and the first court appointment (not really a hearing) will take place around 6 weeks later. Many cases settle by agreement at that stage, but if it doesn't settle then, he can ask for an interim contact hearing to set the level of contact pending final hearing. It is likely that SS will be asked to file a report, so he should ask the SW how long they'll need to provide the report. Usually it's a combination of a summary of their involvement to date. together with their advice as to contact. They tend to be less generous in the contact they recommend compared to CAFCASS (google then to find out all about them).
