is there a stage when i can start doing this

Back story is we had problems with boiler on and off for almost 2 years .Done several times where been of for few days or 3 weeks while LL is away ( he wont pay anyone as he is a qualified plumber amongst other things

Well its off again im cold tired and we have no hot water and guess what he is out the fecking country again said he will look when he gets back

Yet he gets £1200 a month for this place despite never doing the jobs that he promised to do

Now i actually move out on the 19th december ( not given notice yet he has no clue whats coming and i really dont care )

But can i deduct from rent as will need run plug in heaters and boil a kettle for hotwater so costing me more eletric

If he is not in the country and cannot deal with you not having heating or hot water then you need to call someone out to get it fixed, send a copy of the bill to the LL recorded delivery, keeping a copy of the receipt with the number, and deduct the cost of repair from the rent.

I am sure you are able to do that legally. If I am wrong someone will correct me (please do if I am wrong).

Try ringing Shelter 0808 800 4444. They should be able point you in the right direction.

i have spoke to shelter but apparently since he is out the country nothing that can be done till he is back in the uk .is not the first time this has happned think its 12th time this year is anything from 24 hours to 3 weeks for longest time

But called enviromental health who have emailed him warning that it is not acceptable and they have dropped some extra heaters round
