New car with faults

Bought a brand new car at the end of August. It is now due to go back to the garage for the 4th time because a fault indicator keeps coming on, and also it is leaking oil.

I bought a new car because I didn't want the hassle of a 2nd hand car breaking down all the time. I got that wrong didn't I?

Could someone please tell me my rights? Do I have to keep letting them try and fix it or can I demand a replacement?

Thank you.

Look at the honest John website (part of the telegraph website I think). Good advice there over stuff like this.

I thought there was a point at which you could demand a replacement. My brand new car was in twice with different faults during its first year but the dealer was wonderful.
