property after a split

my exP and I split up in March last year

I bought the house off him in September of last year paying him 50% of the equity in the property and he temporarily moved in with his parents. Out of respect for them, I didn't insist he moved all of his things out straight away -everything was in the attic or cellar anyway so wasn't an inconvienience

I am now trying to get him to collect his things -he swings from saying he has nowhere to put them so I will have to wait until he is ready, to saying that he wants half of the bedding/towels/cookware etc etc etc

legally can he lay claim to any of these things after this time, or can I dispose of his things (cd collection/books etc)

the house sale was a transfer of deeds, no mention of contents

Can't recall the name of the act (just got in from a night out) but don't throw anything out.

You must give him notice under this Act that you'll sell his stuff then, after deducting your expenses, you must account to him for what you've got in/

lots of people have told me to throw his stuff in a skip, I have no intention of doing this but surely he can't keep his things at my house forever can he?

I've not denied him access to his things, he just doesn't seem to be in any rush to come and get them

The first paragraph basically says you can't dispose of his goods! Can't be arsed to read futher as i'm tired.

Invite him to put them into storage (big yellow box) that might focus his mind. Dont do this yourself as you will have a contract with the storage facility and be liable for the rental.

May be if you just threaten to chuck them he'll do something re storage.

If you know where he's staying, why can't you take it all there and leave it?

it's his parents house. I have alot of affection for them (lived with them for 6 months when we had problems with out house) and they have been nothing but lovely to me
