Someone filmed my DH on his bike - could he get in trouble?

He was riding, at legal limits, on a country road with his friends, however, being an idiotHmm, he did a wheelie on a straight clear stretch of road as he was coming up to a house.
He then noticed that some weirdo was filming them from his front step, and as they went past he turned the camera to catch all their rear plates.
What I need to know is...would the police do anything if shown that video (of him wheelying?) or is there nothing they can do.

its evidence of him being a knob end

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 18/04/2011 20:05

Was it the kind of country road where many bikers would feel that impulse? Because it would annoy me if every sunny afternoon were filled with roaring bikes flying past my country home on one wheel, (and I like bikes Grin) and I might take to filming them. I'm not sure that the police would prosecute on the stregth of a homemade video, but they might take to patrolling there more often.

DarrellRivers · 18/04/2011 20:05

10 years surely Grin

(I'm sure someone more sensible will be along soon]

mollymole · 18/04/2011 20:05

nice area - wierdo filming knob head
why was the wierdo filming them - is this a usual occurence, pulling wheelies on this stretch of road

riders like your DH give the decent motorcyle riders a bad name and deserve
to be prosecuted

FolornHope · 18/04/2011 20:06

yes of course its evidence
they have done so from youtube stuff before
and that dog being abandoned rememvber?

COURSe they do

GColdtimer · 18/04/2011 20:06

Well, the "some wierdo" probably didn't like a bunch of people on moterbikes doing wheelies outside his house so decided to catch them in the act. What were the "legal limits" because if it was a country road, it could have been 60 miles an hour which could be pretty intimidating if there were a bunch of them doing wheelies.

Not sure if the police will do anything but perhaps it will stop him acting like a knob in future!

im always stunned by the bad basic driving of bikers

is there a no overtake marking on the road? oh god they overtake willy nilly
riding up your read end. speeding all the time

bloody hell

ilythia · 18/04/2011 20:11

lol at knob end. You sound like meGrin

I can totally see why he is filming if people zoom past a lot, but they weren't speeding, and there was no other traffic. We aren't local to that area either. Don't know why that is important but DH seems to think it is...

he has asked for constructive answers only and says (I can hardly bear to type this but here goes)
'He can wheelie as he is a good motorcyclist'

sorry they do it pass mine and yes i would happily film and report it i get sick of them that think its fun to do it orgetting that i live there as do my kids and .Maybe first time your dh done it but bet it happens a lotl.

And sorry dont care how good he is .at those kind of speeds he can lose control in a second

FollowMe · 18/04/2011 20:23

If he was such a good motorcyclist then he wouldnt be doing wheelies!!
If you dont drive safely you arent a good driver (even if you havent had an accident yet)

mollymole · 18/04/2011 20:24

'he can wheelie he's a good motorcyclist' my DH was a professional motorcycle racer for 15 years and when he sees riders 'wheelie' in the road he calls them 'fucking dick heads - should have their licenses taken away'
your DH is a double dick head

Decorhate · 18/04/2011 20:26

Is your h still a teenager or a middle-aged bloke having mid-life crisis??!

colditz · 18/04/2011 20:28

Er, no. He's not a good motorcyclist, as good motorcyclists don't do things that endaner other people's lives, which if he was riding as a group, pulling wheelies would be.

goingroundthebend4 · 18/04/2011 20:31

and so your dh might not be local to the area so thats ok .

But the poor man that has to live there is local and probably gets a load of idiots bikers that are not local doing it all the time .

Ask dh how he would feel if someone was doing wheelies up and down your road all the time not nessecarry the same person infact even better if they did not live there becuase hey you dont want to annoy people where you have to live

jade80 · 18/04/2011 20:32

Tell him to take it to a track if he wants to piss about. That way, if it does go wrong (even if he reckons it won't because he's too good) he's less likely to wipe out a child...

IngridBergman · 18/04/2011 20:33

Ah excuse me forlornhope

I ride a 500 and don't do ANY of those things thanks. Yes I get knobbers coming up on me in the car too, but it doesn't mean we are all shoite riders.

Most bikers I see are really good and sensible and so on. It's only the knobheads you notice.

OP I'm not sure, I know some fantastic riders who pull wheelies including pro mechanics and engineers but they would normally do so where they wouldn't get caught! It doesn't mean he's a crap rider. It was a foolish thing to do in the circs though. Could posssssibly be done for reckless/dangerous driving but more likely not, I'd have thought.

IngridBergman · 18/04/2011 20:35

what bike you got Ilythia's DH? Grin

jammietart · 18/04/2011 20:35

I would think it could be used as evidence of dangerous driving which of course it is. So yes the police could do something if presented with the evidence.

herladyship · 18/04/2011 20:37

I spend my days providing an inpatient rehab service to idiots who thought they were good bikers... Worse than that i get to see plenty of people (including bereaved families) who became victims of idiots like this Sad

Feel very Angry when I see stupid behaviour like you describe, perhaps the man filming is trying to get something done to improve the roads safety? Maybe there have been accidents along there? Don't know if you've ever been at the scene of a nasty RTC but it is not an experience you would want!

Sorry if that's not want your clever bike riding dh wants posting on the thread!

IngridBergman · 18/04/2011 20:38

i'm not sure doing a wheelie is that dangerous.

Sidge · 18/04/2011 20:39

So we'll probably be seeing him on one of those Traffic Cop type shows where they show total twats in cars and on bikes?

IngridBergman · 18/04/2011 20:40

how high did he get the front up anyway, and for how long - was it just as he was starting off or was it like, no hands, back wheel for ten metres waving kinda thing?

IngridBergman · 18/04/2011 20:42

Look here these hits are all people doing really high speeds.

It might depend on how fast he was actually going which a home video camera can't prove, anyway.
