Ive worked for the NHS same hospital for 22 years.
Will find out at the end of the month if i have a job or not.

What can they do with me? Redundancy? re deployment?
How doesit all work?
Desperately worried, and the unions are shite, havent got back to me at all.

ACAS and BusinessLink websites have information about Redundancy.

I would have thought they will make you redundant. They may offer an alternative job elsewhere, which you don't have to accept.

Ive just gone onto a redundancy calculator website and it is absolutely apauling, fucking insulting actually.

22 years for nothing.

But that will be the statutory minimum; NHS redundancy is generally much better than statutory.

They will offer you alternative work first I think, though you may have to interview for the job. Lots of NHS ads currently state, priority will be given to employees in 'at risk' areas.

Thats the other thing...there is a freeze on recruitment. No jobs being advertised at all, so i am going to be forced to leave my beloved NHS where i have put heart & soul in, worked way over my contracted hours evry week, coming in on days off, laughing, crying, weddings, babies, divorces, deaths....for a few grand.

I am gutted, absolutely devestated and my coleague(same boat) is physically ill with the stress of it. Not sleeping, not eating, looks a wreck...but still comes in for her shift having never had a day of sick for years and years.

Will keep my fingers crossed for you but it is a nightmare. My NHS job is ok for the moment NHS Direct, but major changes afoot so may be in same boat. I've only got bit over a year to go before retirement so am very Biscuit about it at the moment.
