late cancellation

how do I go about getting a client to pay for a late cancellation?

I have confirmation of the booking and the client cancelled the booking with an hours notice. I normally charge full price if less than 24 hours notice is given.

I have asked the client is this instance to pay within the 5 working days and I will accept 50% as a "goodwill gesture". They are still not paying or responding.

What is the next step?

If it's in your T&Cs and they've had notice of that it's the small claims court. You'd lose repeat business though. What do you do?

I got the job through an agency and i have only just found out that they don't have a cancellation clause

I guess that means that I get nothing!

I won't be using that agency gain for work!

Was it a PAY arrangement or self employed

If self employed you might be able to get compensation but you really need T&C

it was on a SE basis but under the agency's name and their terms and conditions.

Had I gone in as myself, my Ts and Cs would have covered me.

grrr
