Ooooh. A bit dodgy that. I think making a false statement on a birth certificate is an offence. She needs advice from a criminal solicitor about her position.

There is a corrections department at the register office (note REGISTER office, not REGISTRY) in Southport that deals with the correction of these documents. It might be worthwhile her speaking to them. I understand they are very helpful.

Hmm. Sounds very dodgy. An asylum seeker would be entitlted to give birth on the NHS anyway (immediate & necessary treatment is free). So she used someone else's details in the hospital, & then used them in the registry office? You have to show ID etc there. I think this might be very problematic to sort out to be honest.

client said she used the details to secure employment whilst in the uk and continued with it when she gave birth before seeking asylum..according to her she has already been dragged thru the courts by the home office becos of this and she was given a community order..now that she has served the sentence..what can she do to rewrite the wrong?

The corrections department in southport. And no, it isn't staffed by people with canes and whips.

They are the only people in the world who can change the birth certificate.
