Changing surname by deed poll.

Not sure if this is the right topic but has anyone changed their surname by deed poll?

ExH and I have been seperated for a while now, just never got round to getting a divorce. We've both got a lot of things going on at the minute and we are hoping to be divorced by the end of the year but it's just not a priority right now.

However, I am due a baby in March with my DP and when he is born he will have my surname on his tags which is also my exH's surname. I know it's not a big deal as it won't be his actual surname but DP would rather he had my maiden name on his tags as we will be keeping his tags.

So can I change my surname by deed poll? Is it an easy process?

TIA

Hi,

It's very easy! I did it when I was getting divorced. I wanted my name changed quicker than the divorce would come through. Getting your name changed is easy ... then it takes ages to contact everyone to tell them - but ti's worth it!

Oh thanks so much.

I am a bit worried about a mix up at the hospital as baby is due in 6 weeks but will see what happens.

Thanks again
