Sorry....lots of confusion atm. House is going up for sale, but ex not paid any money for the mortgage since July, so obviously struggling financially. If my son 22 moves back in and either pays keep or contributes to the household bills will my ex be entitled to any of this? This financial contribution would stop the house being repossessed, and as things are moving slowly on the housing market and could take a long time to sell? Thanks
Also we have a dog for which he has never contributed to since splitting up does he have any responsibility ? Smile

You can keep everything your son gives you. Don't worry about that.

The dog is a chattel - ie something owned. Don't want to sound heartless, but you can sell it, or have it put down. If there is a maintenance issue between you and him (in other words if he earns alot more than you) one of your income needs will be to feed and care for the dog. If there is no maintenance issue you'll have some tough choices to make.
