HELP ! Does anyone know anything about gambling laws at school fairs - or anywhere I can find out?

We are doing a stall at the school fair - maggot racing.......and wish to give a cash prize for the winner ( ie. 50p per maggot, 6 lanes of maggots, and £1 to the winner as the prize)

There have been some questions about whether it is OK to have a cash prize.

Does anyone know anything about this, or even where to find out?

TIA

Thanks for your help

In the meantime I found the Gambling Commission website, and after much hilarity, they confirmed that maggot racing would be classed as an Incidental Non Commercial Lottery and so requires no license, so long as not more than £ 500 is taken out in expenses and bets are all placed on the night.

Hurray ! All systems go

It should be fun Smile
