Hello,

Thought I would turn to you mumsnetters as always had good advice on here!

I brought a tv last year, before the year was out it broke. I phoned and was told it would have to be repaired. I didnt want this and wanted a refund.

I have been told i have to have it repaired and if this cannot be done then i will have a partial refund.

Any advice? I dont want a repair as the model is discontinued and i forsee problems in the future. I cant have a replacement as there are none.
I am in a battle with Argos over this and appreciate help ;)

yes, afaik you do have to accept a repair if one is offered.
if you're lucky they won't be able to repair it, in which case you can have a replacement.

As you bought the tv last year you are well past the time when you might have been able to reject it and demand a refund. You are now only entitled to a repair or replacement. If Argos fail to repair or replace the tv within a reasonable time you are entitled to a partial refund.

A further issue is that if you didn't contact them about the fault within 6 months of purchase it is up to you to prove that the problem is with the tv, not down to wear and tear or any damage you caused.

So I'm afraid Argos are right. You are not entitled to a full refund.

Ah ok then, hopefully they wont be able to fix it then;)

How did you pay for it? If you paid with a credit card, if Argos fail to repair etc, then you have recourse to the credit card company under the consumer credit act, as long as the price paid is over £100.
