Thought I would post here as sure some lawyers must be lurking.

dd is in her 3rd year at Uni studying law. She has been accepted to do her LPC at The College of Law in Manchester. Fees are approx £10,000.

Can you get a professional loan?

Anyone been to a College of Law (good college or not).

Yes, Some banks call them Career Development Loans.

What she really wants is a training contract with a law firm - many of them pay the fees and some even give a small maintenance grant.

There is then the security of a two year training contract afterwards (although in these economic times many trainees are not taken on permanently once qualified).

She should easily get a loan, but securing a training contract (and one with a firm that will foot the LPC bill at that )is very very tricky right now and will be for sometime to come.

The CoL is the best college to go to - partly because it has fantastic facilities, also because the legal profession is still full of snobs and will look at a CoL graduate more favourably than a non-CoL graduate. Hope that helps?!

yes you can - HSBC do a good one (according to DP) he also says dont embark on it without getting sponsorship
