Colleague watching porn at work

Long and short of it - a guy who is not part of our company but who shares a floor with us is watching hardcore porn films - we've all seen them before he's been able to flick to another window. What are the main issues (apart from being generally disgusted and weired out??)

HR need to be consulted about that, unacceptable behaviour in company time, on company premises AND on company equipment!

Is he asking to be sacked????

If your company has an IT policy then he is breaching that.

You expect and are entitled to work in an environment free from harassment. You are clearly feeling uncomfortable with all the porn. You need to notify HR and/or your line manager that in the course of your employment you are exposed to unacceptable harassment. You would like them to put you into a safe environment. Depending on your other male colleagues and how grossed out they feel, this may or may not be a sex discrimination case.

Keep it factual and unemotional.

If I understand the situation correctly, the problem you have is that he doesn't work for your company. He works for another company that shares the same office space. So your company can't sack him, nor is your company's IT policy relevant.

However, this is clearly an issue. I suggest you raise this with your line manager and, if necessary, further up your company's heirarchy. They need to put pressure on the other company to stop this behaviour from their accountant. If they encounter resistance (as you already have according to the other thread) they can take it up with the owner of the premises and make it clear that they will terminate the lease unless action is taken.

If your employers fail to take this seriously you potentially have a case against them. The courts can't expect your company to control another company's employee but at the very minimum they should be insisting on things being rearranged so that you no longer share office space with the little studio.
