I am being threatened of court by a private car parking company- looking for advice whether to pay for the ticket or not?

I work in a hospital & we are only allowed to park for 4 hours at a time. In order to get round this, I have to move my car at lunch time or risk a parking ticket. I got a ticket a month ago and refused to pay it as I think it's crazy how I am getting penalised for parking at my own place of work. Today I came home to a letter saying I must pay it or they will issue court proceedings. Does anyone know if they have the power to do this? It seems odd as it's some solicitor in Southampton & I live in Scotland!

Have a look here, and have a general nosey round those forums. Hope it helps. :)

What proof have they got that you were parked for more than four hours?

Blokes go round all day with a machine / pad, recording where all the cars are parked and when they got there. On NHS premises. Scandalous.

Thanks, OldLady, I'll have a look there.
