Will try to keep this brief as possible.
Bought a white iphone 3gs 32gb in July, paid £35 up front for phone and signed up for 24 months contract. 3 weeks ago my phone says 'no service' at, and a large area around, my work postcode. Numerous calls and assurances plus 2 weeks later mobile company inform me a mast in the area has been turned off and they will cancel my contract as I can no longer get signal.
I asked to buy phone but they said £400 to keep it even though it says on my paperwork £9 a month on bill is for cost of phone, rest is for calls/text/internet. The £9 x 20 months remaining on contract is £180 which I said I would happily pay. They said no, £400.
So, I have been looing into other networks today and in another phone shop explained problem and they advised me to contact trading standards and they say as soon as you leave shop with the phone it is technically yours and from his training believes they cannot take it back as what they have provided me is not fit for purpose therefore their fault and my phone.
Does anyone know if this is the case? I really love me phone and don't want to change, everywhere I go says they can do me 8gb 3gs in black only or and iphone 4.
