Doubt with contract (flat)

Hi, I have to sign the contract for our new flat, but I can't do it in person. Is it OK if the landlady scans a copy and then mails me the original?

As long as you're both happy with that, and you both end up with a copy signed by each of you... what's the point of the scanning, though? Confused
