How can I found out who owns a particular property?

Trying to do a favour for a friend who is owed a lot of money by someone but it having trouble tracking them down.
I'm wondering if there is a way of finding out if the property they last lived in is still owned by them or has been bought by someone else (poss as part of an insolvency deal - not sure if that's the right term).
The house in question is being let out but the managing agent won't tell her anything.

There are sites you can search to find out if there has been a sale....zoopla is one. You can see if properties have been sold but not the details of the vendor though,if that helps.

land Registry should have this information - I think they charge you about £3.
