Covert recordings in the workplace

Need some advice from an employment expert about covert recordings of meetings, are they legal?

In general any recordings made should be with the knowledge and agreement of those being recorded or video'd. This also applies to sound recordings of personnel meetings etc.

Why? what are the circumstances causing you concern?
