Most number of children

I have had a browse around this thread as I am from a large family, and whilst I don't think I'll have as many as my maternal and paternal grandmothers (6 and 6 + 2 longterm fostered respectively), I would like to have probably 4 children. But out of interest, was wondering who has the most children on MN? How do you organise your time/home/finances.....?

weve got 8 , blended family btw.
3 step kids , 5 birth kids for me - oldest is 18 next week - so i suppose it will be 7 kids (+ 1 adult child)from next week.
time- never enough (shouldnt be on here - pile of washing to do , tea to make)
finances - dh works ft, i work pt when i can, very good at budgets
home - its like a mad house , very noisy , but organised well.(apart from toys) could do with an extra bedroom and bathroom...

chegirlsgotheartburn · 19/01/2010 16:00

I am on number 5. I always wanted 6 but now I am 42 I dont think I will be having anymore birth children. We have already adopted from family so its possible that situation my happen again in the future.

I would like to respite foster children with disabilities in a few years time.

There are lots of mners with big families. So I am sure I come way down the list with my mere five offspring.

OH is the youngest of 12 though

drloves8 · 19/01/2010 16:08

think the most on here is 9 ( all her own work ,not step kids) cant remember the name though......

tanmu82 · 19/01/2010 17:46

I think you guys are amazing - I only have two (though hoping to have a 3rd) and yet my washing machine is always on, my pile of ironing/folding is the size of a mountain, I feel like toys and clutter are taking over my house....not to mention the neverending dishes and the endless dinners and lunches to cook.....but you know what, I love it lol sucker that I am

My cousin has nine. She works really hard!

PortBlacksand · 19/01/2010 17:53

Juule has 9 i think

mumtoxii · 19/01/2010 19:14

I have 12, aged 21 to 17 months, so think I might have the most, but am definitely the maddest!!

PortBlacksand · 19/01/2010 19:37

Wow mumtoxii - any multiples in there?

How Fab!

largeginandtonic · 20/01/2010 06:39

I have 7. All mine.

The oldest are 11 (twins,only 1 set)

Juule does have 9.

Idobelieveinfairies has 8, two sets of twins in that i think.

The washing is the killer and cooking has become catering almost.

My dh works and i am a sahm.

juuule · 20/01/2010 08:03

Yes, I have 9 from 17 pregnancies. No multiples.
Second what Largeginandtonic says about cooking becoming catering almost. If I had the money I would love a cook

tanmu82 · 20/01/2010 10:25

12 are they all your own? Did you plan to have such a large family - if I may be so cheeky as to ask

drloves8 · 20/01/2010 12:48

tanmu82 · 20/01/2010 21:10

I'm pretty broody at the moment and will ttc #3 later this year....I think I'd like 4 children ultimately, but don't think I could imagine having any more than that - hats off to you ladies.....(wanders off marveling at 12!!!)

18 - I love kids, but I would still want to be able to have some sort of life as me....with 18 that must surely be nigh on impossible!

Hats off to those of you with more!

Comewhinewithme · 30/01/2010 23:25

mum2all · 05/02/2010 21:28

We have 6 and are expecting 7&8. Have 1 set of twins and expecting another set.Try to be mega organised although I can be a bit slatternly about things that I don't feel are vital. at mumtoxii and I thought I was off my trolley having another 2!!

bellylicious · 08/02/2010 17:32

i have just found this and its fab, i wish my mil who only had 2 thought the way you guys do

we have 4 between 9 and 4 months blended
2 eldest are mine from a previous 3rd is my oh's and lives with us and 4th is ours, i really dont feel done yet im only 25 and could quite easily pop a couple more out

JodieO · 08/02/2010 17:41

Only 3 but hoping for more!

Cadmum · 08/02/2010 17:58

Wow juuule! I remembered that you had 9 but I didn't realise how many times you had been pg.

We only have 4 but I have had 4 second trimester miscarriages: one was twins and the most recent required a c-section because of placenta previa.

I am not 100% sure that we are done but the last two miscarriages could have cost my life so dh is not convinced that the dream of 6 children lives on...

The hospitalisations for the miscarriages are the most stressful of our parenting challenges as we live far from friends and family.

Our house is fairly organised; everything has a labeled place but, unless I really make a concerted effort to stay on top of it all, things are seldom where they belong. I sometimes feel like a short-order cook. Thankfully the dcs are not picky but they all like things prepared slightly differently. We don't have help but are thinking about the possibility as we are about to spend a year in Cambodia where we will be functionally illiterate...
