...how old were you when you had your 1st child and how old for your most recent baby/pregnancy?

I am 39 and TTC no.4 but amongst my various worries I'm worried about being 40 n starting again...

Geepers · 09/06/2009 15:54

I was 14 when I had my first and am 30 now, and on pregnancy number 6, and baby number 7.

I plan to carry on for years yet ;)

bumpybecky · 09/06/2009 15:56

dd1 I was 25
dd2 I was 27

...and some of the indicators for twins are
a) older
b) taller
c) more previous pregnancies
as well as twins in the maternal line. Best of luck!

catnipkitty · 09/06/2009 21:32

Thank you for replies...so those who are 'older' (I include myself in that ) did you find it harder physically, coping with sleep deprivation etc etc??

Fiplus4 - I already have twins - they are DD2 and DD3 and are now 4yrs old. Fabulous fun and I love 'em to bits

DD1 28
DD2 31
DS1 39
DS2 40

Absolutely knackered this time round but that could be because there is only 15 months between them

juuule · 09/06/2009 21:39

I wouldn't say that I found it any more difficult with the last than I did with the first. Sleep deprivation is difficult whatever age (for me anyway) Although by the time I was having the later children I did become more accepting of the fact that night-time didn't necessarilly mean sleep-time which made the whole thing somewhat easier (less resentment).

DS 31

DC4 due in 4 weeks - will be 39.5

Didnt find it any harder to get pregnant this time round. Possibly feel a bit more achey with this pregnancy (find it difficult to remember how I felt 4 years ago with DD2) but other than that no major problems. Will let you know about the sleep deprivation in a month or so after baby no 4 has arrived!!

Generally I'm hoping things will be the same or possibly easier as (hopefully) the birth will be quick and breast feeding etc are familiar from the first 3. I think I found the first pregnancy and baby the hardest as it was all such a shock.

liahgen · 10/06/2009 21:09

dd 27
ds 31
ds 37
dd 38
dd 40

ttc#6 at almost 43

I don't actually mind sleep depravation. I hate getting up in the mornings, but once i'm up, i'm ok. Less energy but I think that's a bit because i'm just a bit lazy,

niche · 10/06/2009 21:44

ds1 - 26
dd1 - 27
dts - 29
ds3 - 31

I'll be 33 this year and no plans for any more although would like No 6 someday.

40 tomorrow and now peri-menopausal so I'm glad I fitted the last one in when I did. It has been a bit awkward going back to doing 'baby stuff' but it's whizzing by.

Good luck with your plans.

juuule · 11/06/2009 09:28
