Do your children share rooms?

Thinking of the logistics of having a 4th child...we would have 2 children sharing each bedroom. Will this still be ok when they're teenagers or do we have to factor a house move into our decision? What do you think?

we have two boys and are assuming that they will always share a room.
I was one of 4 girls and we shared 2 to a room.
I think sharing is fine, some others think its some kind of violation of a childs human rights if they have to share a bedroom!

ATM we have all four DDs in one room, which has been fine and they've learnt to sleep through anything! We are, however, in the process of building a small extension as I think that they will be too cramped in the future, so it will be DD1 on her own, DD2 on her own and DD3 and 4 sharing....until DC5 comes along

In answer to your question I think 2 to a bedroom is fine, we did it as children odd falling out but generally got on well.

i don't technically have a large family but both ds's share a room atm, and am planning to put db3 in with them too when s/he moves out of our room

I have 4 kids, we have a weird house in which the downstairs is big enough, lots of outside space and an attic conversion, yet the kids rooms are appalingly small!
we have 3 bedrooms, 2 girls in one, 2 boys in the other.
We are ttc no5, God knows where we will put it - if its a boy fine as boys room is big enough (just!) for bunk beds and a cot, if it agirl we are screwed!
I dont think they need a lot of space though . We moved form a much bigger house to this one because we wanted to live in a quiter area and have more outside soace. At the old house dc's all had there own room and they were never in it, ever. They rarely play in their rooms now, except eldest ds who likes his lego.
Worst thing about it is to get them all to go to sleep!

We had 4 in a bedroom when I was little. I loved sharing a room, we could chat and tell stories and argue about whose turn it was to turn the light off. If we heard parents outside the room we quickly shut up! I think they used to deliberately make loud footsteps so we knew they were coming.
We're in a 3 bed house and I will make my soon to be 2 children share so they get to experience what I had.

We always shared 4/5 to a bedroom when I was younger and can't remember ever really disliking it...until I reached about 14 anyway

My two DS' share a room and even if I had several empty bedrooms, I wouldn't split them up (not yet anyway)

We used to share baths too, about 4 to a bath - a yearly event!

we have a 3 bed semi and ds has his own room while dd1 and dd2 share, when dd3 is born she will also be with the other dds when she is around 12mths

I shared a bedroom with younger sister until I was 17, had one year on my own before I went to university. was fine!

My boys (7 & 5) have shared a room since ds2 was 9 months old. The worst possible thing we can say to them if they are naughty after we put them to bed is to threaten them with separate bedrooms. They love sharing and will not hear of being separated.

I occasionally love to stand outside their bedroom door and listen to them whispering when they are supposed to be asleep, as I remember doing that with my sister and it really helped us to bond and feel it was the two of us together against the world.

Mine will always have to share..2 girls in one and 3 boys in other unless we do loft or move.

I have just chopped up bits of my house to give the 2 older boys a room each..10 year old will go to secondary school in sept and think the privacy and personal identity bit is important being part of a large family and as they get older he is quite sensitive so likes his retreat space...but it was nice when they were sahring sometimes lots of chatting and giggling-- but also arguing and niggling either way they didnt get to sleep. The girls share which is nice but I can see that my the older one wants her "own" space when her friends come to play.
