When you know that your family is complete do you feel nostalgic with every milestone?

I have friends who ask me if I feel sad that this might be the last nappy I change or the last first tooth but I don't feel that way.

DBiL is sad with the passing of their fifth infancy as she is their last but neither DH or I talk this way about db4.

Oh I think I am guilty of this, infact I know I am.

Cadmum · 10/12/2008 15:00

I will not even attempt to deny that dd2 is spoiled rotten but I don't have the nostalgic feelings that I am asked about and see in DBiL...

I worry about this, I had three close together and the next one will be my last with a 6 year gap, am worried she/he will be the little messiah, especially if it's a boy.
I'll have to be careful only to savour when the others aren't around.

My dd is the same she is very very babied and I am so overprotective of her I was certain she was my last and found it hard to let go.........I am now 4 months pg after a double contraceptive faliure and am sure I will feel exactly the same about this one and I know its certainly the last one as Dp is off for the snip v. soon.

cheeseandsproutssarnie · 11/12/2008 13:25

im guilty as charged.

storkycake · 11/12/2008 13:26

Ooh Cadmum, I don't think you are....is Dh though?

handmedownqueen · 11/12/2008 13:43

hi cadmum good to see you its hereshoping/rosylizzie being my previous names. remeber me from the miscarraige boards? Last I heard you were in Vienna??

Re PLB - yes I have one of those but its not dc4 that we struggled to have together but dc5.....! After all the misery and miscarriages a slightly unplanned sibling for dd as she seemed so far in age from the older three - four and a half year gap. We had a little boy who is now 18 months, thoruoghly recommend it though hard at first

Cadmum, I know what you mean. I love my ds 2 - he is my icklebickle baby. Suits me to a certain extent he does not want to give up bf-ing. I tried cold turkey with him because softly-softly was not going too well. Gave up within 12 hours. He is still mine.

Cadmum · 11/12/2008 14:17

storkycake: I am more done than he is...

Handmedownqueen: WOW! Congratulations! What a fabulous happy ending. I am now in Geneva, Switzerland recovering from 18 months in Vienna. If you ever happen to go there (as it is a fabulous tourist destination) keep an eye out for my marbles. I am sure that I lost them there.

Your name made me laugh as I just referred to myself as the hand-me-down-queen in an email to a friend this morning...

blueshoes: Hang on to him while he is still adorable. (No luck here with cold-turkey or with gentle-gentle either!)
