Maternity leave reaction

Hi,
we are planning our 4th baby soon. We have 3 all under 4 close in age. I have been with the same employer for about 13 years, work really hard and am well respected, I’m relatively senior in my field.
I have taken 3 maternity leaves since 2020 and now planning another and initially we had a lot of struggles (it took us 3 years to have our first).
I’m interested to hear from those of you who had 4 and what reaction you received with your employer when you told them? Or from colleagues who cover you. Obviously I know they can’t discriminate against you but I know it’s only natural for people to have their own opinions on this. With my first everyone was happy for me but now I see it’s wearing thin which I kind of understand to a certain extent.

Did anyone say anything nasty/ rude when you made an announcement? I can envisage one or 2 colleagues making some comments. However the way I see it is that it’s my family and personal life and I am entitled to have as manat children as I want, it’s just a phase of life and I have another 25 years of working so it’s not that long in the grand scheme of things.

What was your experience?

There’d likely be lots of eye rolling at my place, but no one would say a word to your face. As you’ve said, you’re entitled to take as many mat leaves as you want, other people are entitled to secretly judge you for doing so.
