So partner works shifts and so am often alone with the kids of an evening, 3.5yo & 6mo twims

Eldest was always strictly bath & bed every night but am struggling to get all three into a routine…. Anyone else with a similar set up
how do you manage it? Do I just need to suck it up that it’s going to be shite for a while with permanent lower back pain ??

My eldest was 3yr 4m when my twins arrived, and most of the time DH was around to help so I sympathise, those early days aren't easy.

Even with two of us to do bedtime each night we wouldn't have a bath every day. Just gave the twins a good face, hands and wash down below. I had a sit-up bath and whilst on mat leave I would bath the twins in there separately during the day, it helped to pass the time and took the pressure off on an evening.

Could your eldest snuggle with you whilst you get the twins settled, and then you do eldest's bedtime? That's what I mostly do now, let eldest watch a bit of ipad with her headphones on, in the big bed with everyone. We bedshare with the twins which makes that a bit easier.

If I was going out when the twins were very young and DH was doing bedtime alone I would make the eldest a packed tea, with a sandwich, drink, apple and a packet of crisps- she loved that and would sit and eat it in our bed whilst playing a game on the ipad whilst DH sorted the twins out.

Thankyou got replying! Yeah I’m just so run ragged by them all by the end of the day I think I’m counting down to bedtime ,which makes me feel mean 🙈

Maybe bathing all each day is a bit too much , I try to get the oldest involved because I worry about him sitting in front of the tv by himself … I think I will try a day time bath for the twins 😁

Hi @Hangrybump, I’m not sure if your eldest would be interested, but a Tonies Box may help?

my DS sits in our bed when I get 6m old ready for bed and then I BF while DS listens to stories on the Tonies. May be worth it if it would avoid TV or other screen time? X

I have actually looked at tonies a few times! May have to add to the Xmas list thank you ☺️☺️
