What am I forgetting?

Hoping all goes well and DC3 arrives in the summer. The others will be 4 and 6, and we have clothes and shoes (although I tend to buy shoes new except wellies) for the little one.

What am I forgetting? We have a cot, I’m sorting out car seats, we’ll need a high chair… it’s been so long since the baby days!

I always had a Moses basket and bouncy chair. And you can never have too many bibs and scratch mits.

New mattress, how are you feeding? Stairs gates, safety things. Bath chair

SeaToSki · 19/11/2023 07:41

Do you have somewhere safe you can put the baby down (where the other dc cant get to him) if you have to do something quickly

Been a couple of years, but from memory:

Vests & sleepsuits
Nappies
Wipes / cotton wool
Nappy sacks
Changing station / changing mat
Changing Bag
Calpol for after immunisations
Nappy rash ointment
Bottles/sterilisers/formula/pumps/nursing clothes etc depending on how you’re feeding
Mirror for rear facing car seats

Sounds like you have a while to get sorted however.

Thanks! Yes, 6 months but I know it’ll fly by…

Will check out my changing bag, maybe treat myself to a new one. Stair gates will definitely be necessary and a pain, but think we can sort those once baby is 6ish mo… I’ve got a bouncy chair but it’s pretty beaten up. Need to think about where to put baby down, that’s a great point.

Gin

Yes! Also, inspired by a recent thread, a small hamper of the forbidden pregnancy foods for post-labour…

I treated myself to extras I hadn’t previously eg a nice changing table, Moses Basket and a BB hug me pregnancy pillow (all 2nd hand but great condition )which I carried on using for breast feeding too .
the main thing I found is I didn’t want everything new any more as babies don’t notice and it’s amazing how much stuff is on Facebook marketplace ! I wish I’d got a baby bath maybe too but managed !

Changing mat
Muslins
Cellular blankets
Sleeping bag
Zip up baby grows (life saver)
A decent changing bag
Planets of vests and baby grows
Nappy caddy
A high chair
A bouncer (that rocks or swings)
A baby bath seat
Baby towel
Baby monitor (we got our vtech one for £50 on Argos)

IcarusFlies · 19/11/2023 20:59

Baby monitor! We’ve moved since the last baby and the place is now big enough to need one… thank you!
