aibu
My son soon to be 10 as asked to have his own room however the little room as we call it is used by step daughter however she has not been for 6 month baring in my she is nearly 17, we have step children every other weekend however step daughter has not been since xmas. my son has to share with our littlest 4 and his step brother (visits every other weekend.) Ive decided to leave it until xmas and then decorate it to his liking and move my son into the bedroom am i being unreasonable bearing in mind its been empty for 6 month, and theres always a spare bed for step daughter when she wants to visit.

No, not at all. It seems silly to have an empty room hardly being used and your two children who actually live with you sharing a room. What I would do is have a spare duvet set and if and when the step daughter wants to visit again you can always let her sleep in DS's bedroom and your younger son can sleep with his sibling for the odd night as a sleepover, if that happens, I'm sure they would probably find it fun. I'm sure with your step daughter being 17 she is mature enough now, that she realises you can't keep a room empty 99% of the time just for her odd visit.

Definitely NBU. It's your son's permanent home, he should have his own space now that he's getting older. 6 years is a big gap at their ages, I wouldn't wait personally.

Why don't you ask her first? She'll probably reasonable about it?
