3 kids - homework - panicking

Hey all,

I am panicking because of homework! Please help!

I have a DD that was always speech delayed and a bit behind in phonics that will start reception in September.

I also have a 2 year old DS that is going full time to the nursery.

I am also due DC3 in a couple of months.

Can you please advise how to tackle homework with my DD and helping her with phonics, spelling etc. as she is a bit behind than her peers, while looking after a baby and having a toddler as well?

Is it doable?

And as years pass by the homework thing gets easier or worse?

I mean when having a Year 6, Year 4 and a Year 2 how did you manage?

Please help!

I had a learning laptop that my dd used- it was fun and kept her busy while I was feeding etc. Talk to your kids, have quizzes, play word games, get them to name everything they see, etc.

Re homework take 20 minutes or so every day of just you and her time to help her. Put the baby on your back in a sling, sit the toddler on your lap if you can’t do one on one. It is doable

She doesn’t start reception until Sept! How can she be behind in phonics already? Watching Alphablocks or the Reading Eggs app is good if you want something that can help and be done independently though.
As for homework, presuming you’re not a lone parent do it at the weekend when DH is around so one can watch the little ones and the others give her full attention. Reading we do at bedtime so younger sibling in bed first then she reads to one of us before we read to her. Spellings we do with breakfast.
