Hi everyone

I have three kids, the eldest has just finished reception - I've really struggled this year to find time to help her with her homework and listen to her read, we fit it in but it is so rushed I feel she is missing out - how do people juggle this? No idea what im going to do when they are all in school!

I have three kids and my eldest has just finished reception too. He didn't get much homework this year, just one reading book to be read on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We fitted this in straight after arriving home from school pick-up on the Thursdays and Fridays. My younger two would always fall asleep in the double pram on the way home from school so it worked quite well. I could give him a snack and some 1:1 time at the same time. I found this was also a good time because he seemed quite receptive to doing it at this point in the day, also he knew he would be getting TV time soon while I cooked tea.

Don't know if it would work for you though at this time, it depends on the routine of your other kids and your job if you work doesn't it. I think next year will be harder as year one will mean more homework and middle one probably will stop napping.

Still juggling it. I tried to move bedtime back half an hour to fit it in but then that didn't work due to tiredness.
I am going to try to make dinner early ie- eat about 4.30pm instead of 5-530pm and that should give us more time before bed

My eldest has just started reception, and I have 17 month old twins.

Eldest is a bit of night owl so we tend to incorporate reading into her bedtime routine, whilst the other parent does bedtime with the toddlers. And then a couple of sessions at the weekend.

It’s easier now my middle one is in school as the older two can do their homework at the same time and youngest just has to entertain himself. We try and do it after school the night they get it but eldest (year 3) now has so much she can’t get it all done in one night. It has been an ongoing struggle really.

Homeschooling the eldest during lockdown with a 3 year old and baby was so horrendous that I think it gave us mild PTSD.
