Zafira Tourer or other 7 seater advice

Warp2020 · 01/07/2022 22:37

I am looking for a car that will be able to hold 4 adults, 2 children in car seats (joie bold boosters) who would be in the two outer seats in the middle row, plus be able to fit our large buggy (quinny hubb) in the boot.

We have a limited budget and will not be able to afford the bigger 7 seaters such as Ford Galaxy or Seat Alhambra. The most obvious choice for our budget seems to be the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer. Does anyone know whether it possible for an adult to sit in the middle seat of the Zafira Tourer with a child seat either side? Not expecting it to be comfy, as will only be occasional, but want to know if it's possible! This would enable us to keep 1 seat down in the back row and create more boot space.

Has anyone managed to fit a big buggy such as Quinny Hubb in the boot of Zafira Tourer with all 7 seats up? Does anyone know boot dimensions with all seats up (every google search tell me the capacity in litres but not WxLxH)

Alternatively, if anyone has tips on an alternative car for us to consider. Other options in our budget I've identified are Renault Grand Scenic and Peugeot 5008.

Thanks so much.

Ford S Max , though not available as a new car any more. I had one and it was great.

Depends on how big the adult is. Get a different pushchair?

SpeedofaSloth · 01/07/2022 22:47

We have an old Zafira. I would say the adult would need to be smaller than me, TBH.

Happymama24 · 01/07/2022 22:51

I have had the Zafira and also the Renault scenic grande. The scenic has so much more space. I think you would find it hard to find adults in the back to seats in most 7 seaters

Happymama24 · 01/07/2022 22:51

Fiat Doblo's look very spacious

Happymama24 · 01/07/2022 22:53

Sorry for the spelling mistakes.

Thanks. We won’t be able to afford new, just need to find something affordable that’s not too old/high mileage to be reliable.

Thanks, but we need a big pushchair and just looking for advice on the best car to meet our needs. It would be a medium build, middle aged adult.

We have a tourer, have 2 car seats in, 1 either side and an adult can fit in the middle ( I'm size 10/12) and sit rather comfortably. The boot space is rather large also as can fit large pushchair and luggage for 5 people. One of the best cars we've ever bought. Can't help at the moment about dimensions as we don't use the other 2 seats but can ask dh later.

Thanks for this, did the Renault have more boot space than Zafira when all seats up?

I've had a zafira tourer. Boot space is tiny when all of the seats are in use. Sorry this isn't what you wanted to hear.

ChickenBurgers · 01/07/2022 23:00

weve got a zafira, I’ve sat in the back between two car seats (one britax 360, one maxi cosi pebble in an isofix base) a few times. in fact I did the almost 2 hour journey home from holiday sat in the back, not massively comfortable but doable. I’m 5’5 and overweight but not massive 🙃

we also have a mountain buggy duet which is massive folded and it fits absolutely fine in the boot with both seats down. I’ve not tried it with one seat down one seat up.

hope that helps!

RandomMess · 01/07/2022 23:00

With the pushchair it's how they fold rather than how roomy they are as a pushchair. Got a double in the boot with all seats up.

Batinhernightdress · 01/07/2022 23:02

No, an actual adult would not fit between the two car seats unless they resembled a 90's Kate Moss. The boot seats are also not suitable for any adult that has eaten in the last 12 weeks.

Madwomanuptheroad29 · 01/07/2022 23:04

Had both Zafira and scenic - hated the Zafira with a passion. Scenic much more practical and bigger boot space with all seats up. Also more comfortable and much nicer to dive, more economic and better visibility.
Trying to remember but think scenic can take three car seats in second row.

Madwomanuptheroad29 · 01/07/2022 23:05

I had my sons in the back seats of the scenic - they are both over 6 foot

RubyReigns · 01/07/2022 23:05

We have a zafira. You might fit the buggy in but it would probably take some wiggling around. An adult will comfortably fit in the middle seat. I’m quite chunky and I’ve sat between two car seats in the back on 1-2 hour journeys.
The back seat might be more of an issue If the adult is tall.
I’ve had 6 people in ours and fit a few bags and a city mini double in the boot with just one back seat up. There is plenty of space with just half a boot, especially if you can use the height.
If it helps a maclaren fits perfectly with all 7 seats up too.

Summerbubbles · 01/07/2022 23:05

We had a standard zafira and I could fit between two child seats in the middle row.
With both back seats up we could fit an umbrella fold McLaren stroller in what was left of the boot.

The tourer would be more spacious so should work but obviously depends on the size of the adult, car seats and buggy.

crabcakesalad · 02/07/2022 09:26

Another vote for the ford s max. Our has been great but I agree really the back row is for children.

Happymama24 · 02/07/2022 22:03

With 2 boot seats up we can fit a very small quinny. With one seat down you have loads of space for a large buggy plus extra room

AuditAngel · 02/07/2022 22:11

I have a Prius plus and it has 3 separate seats in the middle row so I think it is easier for an adult to fit between the two car seats. The back row fit adults (I’m 5’7” and very overweight) and I tried the seats for size before buying.

i don’t know the 3 buggy to know if it would fit

mac1974 · 02/07/2022 22:14

I have an smax which I absolutely love but I would warn you away from purchasing one with a power shift gear box. I've just had to pay £2500 to get mine replaced. Apparently it's a common fault which I knew absolutely nothing about. Annoying.

Have you considered a VW touran. You can get them reasonably priced second hand and they run forever. However the boot is small if all 7 seats are in use.
