DH and I are planning for adding a 3rd DC to the family in the next year or two and are trying to work out finances for everything including a possible change of car to fit in 3 car seats.

If you have 3 kids what car do you have that safely fits 3 car seats on isofix bases but that isn't a 7 seater.

Thanks 😊

Ford S-Max, love it. I put off changing to it for so long but really regret not getting one beforehand. So practical.

Don't quote me on this as I may be wrong, but in my experience the majority of cars which are wide enough to fit 3 child seats across the back are 7-seaters.

The Ford S-Max is a 7 seater. I have been driving Volkswagen Tourans for the last 11 years, since just before DC3 was born, and I am now on my third Touran. I love them! The driving position is high up, all 5 of the rear seats have Isofix (yes, it is a 7-seater) and there is a very generous boot when the two boot seats aren't in use. The boot seats fold completely flat into the boot floor.

Finally, the Touran is compact for a 7-seater if that is what is putting you off 7-seaters. I'm not a fan of driving big, van-like cars, but I quickly got used to driving the Touran after my little Ford Fiesta!

Citroen Berlingo (also sold as Peugeot Partner and Vauxhaul Something). I f*ing love it! (And this is having gone from a Merc!) Robust, easy to drive, decent power, 3x isofix in the back, good spec on the "Flair" model, affordable, enormous boot. You can buy a slightly larger one with two pop-up seats in the boot too, called XL, if you're thinking you might cart around more children in future.

Have smax - got for car seat reason - kids are but bigger now and may go smaller seven seater

PlateSpinnerJuggler · 04/09/2021 18:30

Sorry realising it's a 7 seater - like pas poster - when I looked to find a car for three car seats across second row you basically had to get 7 seater

But it's great for school rotas / play dates after school - taking the grandmas out with us etc etc

Other cars that fit 3x isofix across (not a comprehensive list).

We have an Alhambra which is the same as a Touran. The seats in the back are really high which means you have good visibility even in the bonus seats (yes it's a 7 seater) but everyone who rides in the back feels sick :-/ the sliding doors and huge boot are good though. Remember you need to fit in extra luggage as well as an extr person!
